Mission
Agape Development is transforming our neighborhood by preparing Christ-following, independent, community-minded adults.
Needs
Agape Development is always accepting volunteers. Our most pressing needs include in-kind donations in the form of meals for our adult program "Getting Ahead". Other in-kind donations include healthy snacks like fresh fruits and vegetables for our after-school program, BBC.
Other ways to donate, support, or volunteer
Agape Development offers volunteer opportunities for individuals at our after school program, grades K-5. This program, BBC, runs from Monday-Thursday 3:30-5:30 pm. The goal of BBC is to provide children with appropriate, nurturing, consistent adult attention in a structured and engaging environment that teaches participants the importance of education, staying active, being respectful, keeping a positive attitude, and following Christ’s example in their lives. We also have volunteer opportunities during our Teens with Dreams program as a driver or volunteering directly with the teens twice a month on Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30 pm as we provide individualized academic, career, behavior, and life skills counseling to teens in middle and high school. Volunteers can also express interest in coaching our flag football team for boys grades 3-5. Agape Development has volunteer opportunities during adult programming as well. Becoming an "Ally" in our Adult "Getting Ahead" program is another option, in which a volunteer is responsible for helping coach participants in resume buildings, job searching techniques, providing emotional support and biblical advice and mentoring a participant for a year. We also provide an opportunity to become a Driver's Education Partner for individuals working to obtain their driving license. Agape Development allows for individuals to donate on our website, choosing the donation amount and frequency to which they give. Donors are able to choose which program area they want their gift to help, and they have the option to dedicate their gift in honor or memory of someone, if desired. In-Kind donations are accepted also and help support our programs' with snacks for teens and children or meals for our "Getting Ahead" adult program.

Description
Teens with Dreams – Agape Development’s aim is to provide individualized academic, career, behavior, and life skills counseling to teens in middle and high school. We begin a commitment with a small group of teens to journey with them through their school year, assisting them in setting and achieving their goals.
Taming the Hulk – Anger management course for teens. Alternating weeks for guys/girls.
Too Hype Teen Night – (THTN) – Too Hype Teen Night is a discipleship program for young teens in our neighborhood to gain a better understanding of the Bible and how it applies to their lives. One night a week, we have a time for these teens to gather in a youth group environment where they spend time eating, fellowshipping, worshiping, discussing hot topics, and digging into the Word together. THTN also provides monthly field trips and other events for the teens to bond together and have fun. Grades 6-12

Description
Getting Ahead – Participants work in groups to examine the impact of poverty on themselves and their communities, exploring the world through the lens of economic class. The aim is to provide a safe, agenda-free learning environment where adults reflect on and examine their lives, investigate new information relevant to them, assess their resources, make plans for the future, and offer ideas for building a prosperous community.
Serves: Adults 18+
Adult Allies – Allies is mutually beneficial to graduates and their “allies.” Getting Ahead graduates have much to teach about their neighborhood and what they know and have learned about poverty. While Allies can help them network and work on financial goals, we want both graduates and Allies to hold each other accountable spiritually. The commitment required is to meet weekly with their partner for 6 months. These relationships become close, life-long friendships, which foster more stable lives for everyone involved.

Description
Gateway – Gateway Houses are Agape's residential program to help young adults transition to healthy adulthood by assisting with housing, utilities, food, and transportation while also providing counseling, job preparation, and guidance in continued education. We assist young adults in becoming independent through gainful employment, and also encourage volunteering, church membership, and community engagement. Gateway houses are also available for young adults in college or recent graduates who have an interest or desire for urban ministry and would like to gain experience while living in community. Several steps are in place to monitor the progress of Gateway residents. Participants are assigned an accountability meeting every two weeks where goals and progress are discussed and managed. Twice a year evaluations are held for each participant to determine if pre-stated goals and objectives have been accomplished and if the participant is ready to transition to independence on their own.

Capitial Campaign
Currently in a Capital Campaign?
Yes
Capital Campaign PurposeHelpCapital Campaigns are defined as a fundraising efforts over-and-above an organization's annual operating budget. Campaigns might include the purchase of land or a building, major renovations, and major equipment purchases. Endowment campaigns may also be included if the funds are legally restricted.
The purpose of Agape's capital Campaign is to provide another facility for programming. We currently use two locations, our main office with one space for general programming and two smaller spaces. The other location is a house across the street we utilize for teen programming. As our ministry continues to grow, we are in need of more space. As such, we are raising funds through a capital campaign to renovate the old grocery store across the street to become our main location.
